South Antrim Ladies Seconds started 2015 as they mean to go on, thrashing Instonians 5-0 at Shaw’s Bridge.
South started the game with great determination and excellent passing between midfield, dominating the game from the beginning.
Instonians had a few chances early in the match but the South defence remained strong and denied any balls getting through to the keeper. Catherine Faulkner having a great game at the back, feeding strong balls into midfield to ensure the South ladies continually pushed forward.
Danielle Heasley was rewarded with her first goal of the season after she skilfully got through the Instonians defence.
In the second half, South Antrim came out fighting, with Sarah Neill and Lucy Fitzpatrick working tirelessly in midfield, moving the ball around and constantly putting Instonians under pressure.
Laura McConnell and Morgan Muir both got breaks down the wings, challenging Instonians’ defence. As a result, the South Ladies began a deluge of goals with Danielle Heasley securing another one with a fine dribble past the Instonians defence.
Laura McConnell made great connection on two great passes from the right finding the backboard twice and Lucy Fitzpatrick claimed her first goal for the Ladies senior team, just rewards for her efforts as she was also awarded player of the match.
South Antrim Ladies are keen to maintain this form and are looking forward to trying to continue their impressive run at Malone next week.
Many thanks to Neil Wilson for umpiring.
