South Fifths 8 Bangor 1

Having beaten Bangor Fifths in the cup 2-1 last week, South Fifths expected another tough match from the same opposition this time round.

South started the strongest of the two sides putting the Bangor defence under pressure high up the pitch.

Eventually this pressure told when Cain Brown picked the ball up on the half way line, dribbled into the circle and slotted the ball past the advancing keeper.

South continued to press but Bangor managed to equalise following poor marking.

Unfazed, South continued to attack. Wallace got the ball to the left of the circle ran in and fired a shot in on the keeper, the keeper saved with the ball rebounding to the top of the circle where Archie Collins reverse hit the ball into the back of the net to go in 2-1 up at half time.

The second half started in a similar fashion to the first; with South in the ascendency. John Massey made it 3-1 to South; flicking the ball over the keeper after dribbling along the by-line.

South went on the rampage at this stage with McElhinney first scoring at the far post and then hammering another in from the edge of the circle.

Archie Collins then got his second of the game to make it 6-1. McElhinney then completed his hat trick before Taylor scored from a short corner variation to complete the rout; 8-1 to the hosts.

South Fifths next game is away to Annadale in the semi-final of the Minor Cup this Saturday.
