Ernie McAleenan (11) shot a magnificent 47 points last Saturday and stormed to victory at Lambeg GC.
He won the competition sponsored by The Hair Parlour in Moira with a score that could even have been much better but for a triple bogey on the last hole.
Ernie had a very steady first nine, hitting four pars and a birdie but in his back nine, playing superb golf, he scored further birdies at 10, 14, 16 and 17 to finish five shots clear of his next opponent.
That turned out to be Club Captain Stephen Boyd (18), finishing on 42 points,
Third place was won by Craig Tiffen (8) after a count-back which included three other players, Alwyn Sturgeon (13), Brian McGonigle (17) and Tony Hamilton (14) who all finished on 41 points.
Alan Crockard (5) won Best Gross.
Next week’s competition is sponsored by Hunter Home Ventilation.
