Edwin Patterson sent Killaney on the way to victory in the Lisburn Zone Charity Rosebowl final with Eglantine at St Paul’s Parish hall on Tuesday night.
He chalked up a 12 shots win over Vincent Bryans in one of the opening games and with Roy Copes and John McCandless drawing Killaney had wiped out their four shots handicap to lead by eight shots at the interval.
But, it was not to be easy as Eglantine came back with two wins. Wilfie McCullough had a six shots win over Malcolm Foreman and George McLernon got home by a shot against Gareth Christie.
In a tense finish, Killaney won by a shot and this game was also as good as any Rosebowl final in recent years.
J. McCandless 8, R. Copes .8; V. Bryans 3, E. Patterson 15; W. McCullough 12, M. Foreman 6; G. McLernon 9, G. Christie 8.
The spectators enjoyed two good nights of bowling and the two charities, Leo Talking Nerwspaper and RAMS (Race Against Multiple Sclerosis) will benefit from the collections at all Charity Cup matches.
