With the eyes of the cricketing world currently focusing on the heroics being performed by the Irish team in the Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, Derriaghy are gearing themselves up for the new season, which starts in just under two months.

Pre season nets have commenced in Wallace High School on Friday evenings from 7pm and all current and any new members are welcome to attend.

Derriaghy, who finished mid table in Section 1 of the Ulster Bank league last year, are keen to improve their position this time around and hopefully push for promotion.

The youth section at the club is also continuning to florish.

There are no less than eight members of the youth section involved over the winter in the Northern Cricket Union development training squad coaching sessions.

One of the eight, Reece Malone, has also been training with the Ireland Under 13 squad and is due to embark on a 12 day trip to South Africa at the end of March with the NCU Junior Knights.

Outdoor training at the various youth levels will commence again on Monday April 20 and more information will be announced shortly.

The club would like to thank Pizza Bellezza of Dunmurry for their continued support of the youth teams through their shirt sponsorship.
