Alpha Badminton’s trio of Beth Stephenson & Rachael and Rebecca Woods helped Ireland to a third place finish in the Under 15 Quadrangular series in Milton Keynes.

Whilst Ireland finished behind Scotland and England in the series, Alpha’s three representatives returned home having distinguished themselves with Beth Stephenson partnering Clodagh Dunne to reach the semi-final of the women’s doubles after Miss Dunne had lifted gold in the singles.

In the women’s singles Rachael Woods had an emphatic 21-18 21-16 victory over Rachel Cameron but was unable to show her best form against one of the top English youngsters Hope Warner in their quarter-final clash losing 21-9 21-12.

Beth Stephenson narrowly lost the opening set to Lily Farnoon 21-18 and came back to win the second 21-11 so would have been left with pondering what might have been.

Rebecca Woods made an early exit to Chloe Hunt 21-14 21-18.

In the doubles Rachael and Rebecca Woods made a surprisingly early exit, they lost a 24-22 21-18 first round clash to Rachel Cameron/Chloe Hunt.
