The Lisnagarvey Hockey Club A.G.M. took place in the clubhouse last week and was well attended.

The out-going chairman John Gray reported that the club had achieved a sound financial footing due to better use of it’s assets and also announced that Lisnagarvey H.C. would, after discussion and a vote, change it’s status to a Community Amateur Sports Club. This would benefit the club in many directions in the years to follow.

He also confirmed the club would be installing solar panels to eventually reduce electricity costs to a significant degree, the panels would be installed during the summer.

The chairman also related the problems the club had encountered over the past season especially with the inauguration of the Irish Hockey League and the difficulties with Ulster Hockey which resulted. However, he was now looking forward to the first season of the I.H.L. with the strength of the league driving Lisnagarvey hockey to an even higher standard.

On the pitch, he was quick to report that both Mens and Womens sections were eagerly awaiting the new season and that the youth section was also thriving.

The new club chairman Mark Murray was also looking forward to the challenges of the season to come and asked for the members to get more involved in the affairs of the club and to interact more with each other.
