Lisnagarvey complete clean sweep as every team wins

Lisnagarvey completed a clean sweep of results last weekend.

Following the 3-0 win in the Irish Senior Cup at Instonians, the Seconds scored a 3-1 win over Kilkeel at Comber Road. Goals from Greg Thompson [2] and skipper Phil Stirling gave Garvey a morale boost before their Irish Junior Cup match against the same opponents at Kilkeel this Saturday.

The away game will probably turn out to be a much closer affair with Garvey Seconds hoping to take their place in the next round of the competition.

Garvey Thirds had a great win over Banbridge Seconds last Friday night at Havelock Park; this was a badly needed victory as the Thirds are close to the bottom of the Junior 1 league. The goals at Banbridge came from Graham Bittle and captain Richard McConkey.

The Fourths travelled to Comber and continued to impress in Junior 2. They completed their sixth win of the season with goals from Glen Halliday [2], Ben Nelson and David Bolton. Acting skipper Neil Brazil is more than pleased with the Fourth’s performance so far this season.

Banbridge Fourths were Garvey Fifths opponents at Comber Road and the home side won 2-0.

Also in appalling conditions, the Sixths had a 4-0 win over local rivals South Antrim at Comber Road to keep themselves well in the top section of Junior league 5.
