Karting club championship meeting races to the Nutts Corner circuit

The Ulster Karting Club Ulster Championship meeting will be in full gear this Saturday June 15 at Nutts Corner Circuit (Dundrod Rd, Nutts Corner).

The fourth round of the Ulster Karting Club championship series races this season will be the start of a summer long series of races in the province. With the prestigious Ulster Cup ‘plate’ meeting only another two Saturdays away on 29th June then this Saturday is important also in race preparation for that big meeting.

Drivers have been advised though to leave more time than normal to get to the circuit given its proximity to main roads in to and out of the International Airport, due to the G8 Summit.

Racing throughout the series to date has been closely fought for and this Saturday will be no different with all the non gearbox classes taking in three heats and a final. The incredible Superkarts will also be out in force and after much healthier grids recently then both the 125cc and 250cc drivers will be keen to show off all that the Superkart classes have to offer.

The 250cc machines are capable of 150mph with Formula One acceleration.

To add to the meeting’s importance, all the classes from Junior Cadets to the Superkart classes will be competing for points in the Northern Ireland Championships.

A week ahead of the 29th June Ulster Cup, 22nd June is the next meeting at Kirkistown for the Superkarts, under the watch of the 500MRCI. With the CDMC Kart section promoted ‘NW’ plate on 6 July at Portstewart then there is plenty of kart racing every Saturday for the next Month around the three circuits.

The Ulster Karting Club re-vamped web site (www.ulsterkartingclub.co.uk) is also receiving strong interest where more information on the sport can be obtained and drivers can register for race meetings on-line. The club is an integral part of the North of Ireland Karting Association (NIKA) and their web site (www.nikarting.com) also includes details of the championship points.
