In fact, it was the young players who led the way, taking the three main prizes. The consensus of opinion was that Janice would have thoroughly approved of the result.

The recent rain had left the course damp in places and playing uncharacteristically long for the time of year. Mr Mark Orr QC attended to present the prizes and the silver coffee pot trophy to the winner. In first place in her first outing with the Ladies Section was Kathryn Murphy, aged 13 years and playing off a 29 handicap, with a score of 37 points. In second place was another of the young golfers, Amy Jeffers who had 35 points, just taking it on the better back nine from Hazel Boomer.

The gross prize went to the amazing Paula Grant who scored 36 gross points. The Ladies Branch are delighted to see young talent emerging and feel sure this bodes well for the future.
