Paula awarded President’s Plate for second year in a row by UU

Lisburn girl Paula Grant has been awarded the President’s Plate at the University of Ulster for the second year in a row.

The Plate is awarded to the most outstanding sportsperson in the university’s Coleraine and Magee campuses and is the most prestigious award avilable to Paula from her university.

When’s she’s not out on the range, Paula’s in the treatment room in her second year of an optometry degree in Coleraine.

She won the Royal & Ancient Foundation Scholars Tournament for the second year on the trot last month to cap off what has been a successful university year for her.

She was also named the best Irish Amateur for 2013. She’s even set to play in a Ladies European Tour event this summer thanks to her win at the Scholars Tournament, in which see saw off the highly rated Eilidh Briggs with a birdie on the second play-off hole at St Andrews.

With exam season in full flow though, she’ll currently be juggling a putter with a text-book.
