Malcolm is the top scorer

The forecasted storms that welcomed in the New Year stayed away on Saturday January 4 allowing for some needed exercise in the way of golf at Rockmount.

Twenty seven players managed to better the handicap score of 24 points in week eleven of the 2013/2014 Andrew Annett Winter League competition.

Those players added valuable points to their own and to their team scores.

Two players shared the top score of 29 points with Malcolm Foreman (18) first by way of count back and David Andrews (12) second. Malcolm’s card included a birdie two at the sixteenth hole whilst David had a birdie at the difficult eleventh hole.

The low section (0-11) was won by Paul Mearns (09) with 27 points. The mid-section (12-17) was won by Kenny Craig (12) who scored 28 points.

The high section was won by David Kirk (18) also with 28 points. Ryan Wilson (01) had the best gross on the day a one under par score of 45: his card included two birdies at holes eight and fifteen and a bogey at the eleventh hole; the course played on the day was holes seven to eighteen inclusive. Ryan parr’ed the other nine holes.

The scores for the four groups; last week’s Group A leaders “The Bad and the Ugly” have retained first place with 474 points, second place on 467 points is “There’s the Sleet I’m away in” and “The Rat Trap” have been ousted into third with 465 points; as per Group A the Group B leaders remain unchanged with “Paddy one Putt” in the lead with 475 points but “Mr Ivan’s Boys” have dropped from second in this group to fourth with 465 points. “Wear-Em-Out Wilfies” are second on 468 points.

In group C “Talk a Good Game” have extended their lead to eighteen points and are now on 478 points; with “The Handbrakers” moving up to second on 460 points and last week’s second placed team “One Two Fee” third on 457 points.

The final group, Group D is led by “Sultans of Swing” with 472 points; with “FAB” second with 466 points and “The Drawshank Redemption” third with 463 points.

In the singles competitions the low section (0-11) is led by Mark Kyle with 160 points with Laurence Murdoch dropping from first to second with 159 points.

The middle section (12-17) is still led by Brian Rea with 162 points and Charlie Lally moving up to second with 160 points and last week’s second placed man Russell McDonald third with 159 points.

The high section (18-28) is no longer led by Colin Davis he has been displaced into second on 160 points and last week’s second place David Neeson is first on 161 points.
