Magnificent display earns Stephen win at Lambeg

Laganview Driving Range were the sponsors of this week’s stroke competition at Lambeg Golf Club and the outright winner was Stephen Thornhill (13) with a brilliant score of 57 net, 9 under par.

With five pars and only one double bogey at the par 3 fifth hole, he competed the first nine, 2 under. The back nine was when he made the best of the scoring, with three magnificent birdies included in his net 26 to give him a total of 70, net 57.

Runner-up prize was taken by Christopher Maguire (18) with a gross 77, net 59. Christopher got off to a horrible start with double bogeys at the 2nd and 3rd holes but he steadied and made the turn at one under.

In the middle of the back nine he had a fantastic run of four pars and two birdies and was in with a great chance to take first prize but a double bogey on the last ruined his chances but was still good enough for second. Ian Jefferson (12) scored a birdie at the first and last in his round of 72 gross but hit a triple bogey in the middle.

Two under for the first nine and 4 under for the back nine with a total net 60. Craig Tiffen won Best Gross with a 70.

Nicholas Lavery won the Wednesday Hat with an unbelievable score of 45 points.
