Spare at thought for Andy Linton (21) who earlier in the day had returned 45 pts, which would have secured victory on any other Saturday.

Andy picked up 23 points on the front and 22 on the back nine, He wasn’t to know the double bogey at the last would cost him victory.

Third place went to Fred Daly player Chris Black (5) who went round in one under 69 for 42 points. Chris had a superb front nine of three under 32, including three birdies at the 4th, 7th and 8th – and six pars for 24 points. However his back nine of 37 and only 18 points saw him pick up third spot.

The gross competition was keenly contested with three players returning 65s – Senior Cup players Stephen Crowe (-2) and Graeme Dickson (scr) having to congratulate Captain’s Day winner Christopher Morgan (2) on beating them with a better back nine.
