Damien takes the Jubilee crown at Dunmurry GC

Damien White took the spoils on a rain soaked Dunmurry Golf Club last Saturday, after posting a marvellous 43 points.

The 14 handicapper reached the turn with 20 points, mixing five bogeys with four pars, before picking up a birdie at the 11th.

With a further five pars on the back nine, and only three dropped shots Damien was able to come home in 23 points, posting a score of 43 points, which could not be matched.

Mel Campbell (25) had to settle for second place, scoring an excellent 42 points, despite not scoring on three holes.

Mel had six bogeys and two pars on the front nine, but failed to score at the par five fourth hole.

Three pars and four bogeys, on the back nine were off set by his failure to score at the thirteenth and seventeenth, but he will be delighted to see his handicap reduced by two shots for his efforts.

Chris McGaw (10) had a fine 41 points to finish in third spot. Birdies at the fifth and seventh helped him to 21 points on the front nine, and a further birdie at the 12th saw him post 20 points coming in.

His score was somewhat marred by a double bogey six, which ultimately cost him a chance of winning the trophy.

Scott Malcolm (8) took fourth with 40 points edging out John McAree (14) and David Irvine (7) on count back.

Stephen Crowe (+2) won the best gross with an excellent four under par 66. Stephen birdied the second and third to move quickly under the card, but dropped shots at the sixth and ninth, to go out in level par. Another bogey arrived at the 12th but a storming finish of five birdies in his last six holes, saw him home in 31 blows.
