Christmas turkeys now safe

With the turkeys safe for another year the prizes on offer for the remainder of the Winter League at Rockmont will be Andrew Morris vouchers.

Week nine of the 2013/2014 Andrew Annett Winter League competition was played in testy conditions with gusting winds and frequent rain. The conditions did not prevent some high scores, John Shepherd (17) top of the pile with a creditable 31 points, beating his nearest rival Colin McNeill (11) by two points. The low section (0-11) was won by Russell McDonald (08) with 27 points.

The high section was won By David Kirk (20) with 26 points. Jimmy Robinson (05) had the best gross on the day, a three over par score of 51. The scores for the four groups have changed; last week’s Group A leaders “The Rat Trap” have dropped to third place, the leaders are “The Bad and the Ugly” with 324 points; “Widow Twanky goes to Malahide” are second in the group with 321.

Last week’s Group B leaders ”Wear-Em-Out-Wilfies” have been displaced into third place with “Paddy one Putt” reassuming the lead with 319 points; “Mr Ivan’s Boys” are second in this group with 313 points. Group C is still led by “Talk a Good Game” with 319 points with “One Two Fee” second on 313 points.

The final group is closely contested, only one point separating the top three teams. Group D are still led by “FAB” with 319 points; “The Drawshank Redemption” and “Sultans of Swing” are equal second with 318 points.

In the singles competitions the low section (0-11) is led by Ryan Wilson with 109 points closely followed by David Harrison with 108 points. The middle section (12-17) is led by Brian Rea with 112 points and last week’s leader Colin Marshall moving down to second; Colin has 110 points. The high section (18-28) is led by Colin Davis on 111 points with David Neeson second on 108 points.
