Gavin Hawkins and Colin Jeffers were the top scorers with 25 points each, although Gavin came out top in the Division Two stakes on count-back.

The course defied the recent downpours to be open for play. The early starters got a few holes played in the cold and damp conditions before a heavy shower discouraged others.

The weather improved later in the day, allowing almost 90 competitors to take part.

And the biting cold did not prevent thirty competitors from achieving excellent scores of 20 points or more.

Gavin Hawkins (13) and Colin Jeffers (15) were top scorers with 25 points. They dominated Division Two.

After dropping a stroke at the second, Gavin had birdies at the fourth and fifth for a front nine of 35.

Colin was two under par after seven holes but finished five, six to lose out on count-back. Stephen Wilkinson (17) and Joe McCullough (13) weren’t far behind on 23 points.

Ian Sayers (11) started and finished his round with birdies to win Division One with 23 points. John Kelso (12) had 10 points after three holes but dropped four strokes on the last three holes to finish on 22. A birdie two at the sixth helped Michael McCaughan (10) finished on 21, where he was joined by Ben Kirkwood (11).

Chris Scott (22) played consistently to win Division Three with 23 points. Birdie twos at the fourth gave Brian Sparkes (20) and David Wilson (22) four points each towards their totals of 22.

They were declared joint second as their scores for the nine holes were identical right from holes one to nine.

Eleven twos were recorded with only Ken Burns getting birdies at the fourth and sixth holes.
