Lisnagarvey Seconds continued their good form in preparation for their crucial Irish Junior Cup game in three weeks time when they defeated North Down Seconds by 9 goals to 1.

They did not take long getting over the holiday break scoring three goals before the end of the first half. Marty Bothwell opened the account with a neat effort and it was followed up by goals from skipper Philip Stirling and Jack Wilson as the home side had little to offer in the way of attack.

North Down did grab a goal immediately after the restart and it shook Garvey into a course of action which resulted in six more goals in a very one sided second half. The fourth goal was scored by Glen Whitten and the fifth by midfielder Ian Davidson leaving the home side behind in their wake.

Glen Whitten completed a fine hat trick midway through the second period and two more goals from Rob Cumins took the Seconds to a more than comfortable 9-1 victory to retain their slim chance of upsetting the league leaders Annadale on their so far unbeaten run in to the title.
