Lisnagarvey B lost in the final of the NIBA Junior Cup at Grove Park on Thursday night, going down by 13 shots to Whitehead B.

But, they will look back on a great run which culminated in a win over Division 2 team, Balmoral B and Garvey, who play in Division 4, were up against another team from Division 2 in Whitehead.

Yes, Garvey can take pride in defeat after performing well.

They have been runners-up in the Junior Cup four times, the most previous one being in 2002. Garvey won the Cup in 2008, so maybe next time they reach the final they will come out on top. They have won the Cup on six occasions.

After dropping four at the opening end Ken Armstrong was 6-10 down at the tenth and 6-21 at 16 ends. Garvey came back with two threes but still lost by six shots.

After dropping four at the fifth Denis Rankin lifted three at the tenth but was 7-9 down. A five gave Garvey a 16-13 lead at 16 ends, but they were 16-19 down at 19 ends before finishing with one, two to tie.

Ahead 7-5 at the tenth but 9-11 down at 16 ends Bobby Carroll lifted four, one but lost by a shot after dropping one, one, two.

Down 1-9 at the ninth and 6-10 at 13 ends, Alton Reid was 9-13 adrift at 18 ends and lost by six shots.

Lisnagarvey travelled to Donaghadee on Saturday in NIBA Division 1, but came home with a sick feeling when losing by 24 shots and only taking a point off one of the Division strugglers.

Noel Graham lifted a three on the way to 8-8 at the tenth and 15-10 at 15 ends. Garvey were 17-14 up but had to settle for a single shot win.

After dropping four and three Philip Cromie was 9-10 down at the eighth, but lifted a three to lead 15-13 at 14 ends, only to lose by six shots.

After dropping five and six Ivan Craig was 9-18 down at the tenth and 12-21 at 15 ends before losing by six shots.

Down 5-15 at the tenth and 6-21 at 15 ends Neil Mulholland lost by 13 shots.

Lisnagarvey gained revenge for defeats in the League and Cup away to Divis when the pair met in NIBA Division 1 at Warren Gardens on Tuesday night and Garvey too all seven points from a 29 shots win.

After starting with three Ivan Craig added three at the tenth to lead 12-3 and 18-7 at 15 ends before winning by six shots.

A three and a five helped Philip Cromie to a 12-5 lead at the tenth and 17-7 at 15 ends and Garvey went on to win by 14 shots.

After starting with one, four, one Nowl Graham was 10-5 ahead at the tenth but 11-14 down at 15 ends. Garvey scored four, three, three, one from 17 ends and won by six shots.

A three at the eight gave Neil Mulholland a 9-7 lead two ends later but Garvey were 10-11 down at 15 ends before lifting five at 17 ends and winning by three shots.
