News of Liverpool FC Captain Steven Gerrard’s decision to leave the club this summer attracted much attention in Lisburn over the past few days.
One Lisburn mum was spotted in a hilarious video - which has since gone viral - showing her crying in reaction to the news.
But if internet rumours are to be believed, it isn’t LA Galaxy Gerrard will find himself playing for next season.
In fact, it seems Gerrard will be lining up for Lisburn Distillery.
According to theulsterfry.com, Gerrard was spotted getting off the 238 Goldliner at Sprucefield just days ago, before climbing into a waiting cab to be spirited away for talks with club officials. As yet there has been no confirmation from either club, but their unnamed source at Liverpool, right back Glenn Johnson, told them that Gerrard was a longstanding admirer of the Lisburn side.
“Distillery’s is always the first result that Stevie looks for after we come off the pitch,” said Johnson, “he was always banging on about wanting to finish his career playing for ‘the Whites’. We thought he was talking about Real Madrid, but it looks like we had the wrong ‘los Blancos’.”
