St. Patrick’s pupils off to Old Trafford

FORTY four pupils and five staff from St. Patrick’s Academy will be making the annual visit to Old Trafford on Friday January 12 2013 to watch the much awaited Premiership clash between fierce rivals Manchester United and Liverpool.

Trip organiser and teacher Gerry Heaney who has been organising trips to Old Trafford since the mid 1990s said that without doubt this is the most eagerly awaited fixture yet for the pupils and staff of the school with everyone busy counting the days to then.

Dylan Brennan a Year 8 pupil can’t wait to see some of his heroes like Rooney and Hernandez and hopefully see them score and listen to the roar of the crowd in the ground which is going to be amazing. For Joshua Floyd a Year 9 pupil the tour of the ground and seeing the players’ changing room and walking down the red tunnel and standing at the edge of the pitch is going to be awesome.

Before the match the entire school party will spend some time shopping in the amazing Trafford Shopping Centre and on Sunday evening after the match pupils and staff will have the time of their lives with a visit to the superb Trafford Centre entertainment complex. On Monday morning before setting off for home the weekend would not be complete without a return to Old Trafford for a tour of the stadium and a visit to the Old Trafford mega store. During their stay the school party will be staying at the excellent 3* Britannia Hotel in Wigan. It certainly promises to be a weekend everyone will remember for a long time.
