Moira FC is getting ready for the biggest season in the club’s short history – and you can be part of it.
The club’s 2001 and 2002 teams began preparations for their return to action in the Mid Ulster Youth League when they kicked off their pre-season programme last weekend, while the 2004s took part in the Lurgan Town Cup tournament.
This week it will be the turn of the 2003s to start the build up to their first season in 11-a-side football after progressing through the five-a-side, seven-a-side and nine-a-side set ups in Games Development Programme.
The 2005-2008 groups will recommence later in the summer and the club is offering opportunities to children in all age groups to join up, with the 2003 group in particularly seeking to add to their squad.
After a memorable 2014-15 campaign, in which the 2001s reached the Mid Ulster Youth League Knockout Cup final and the 2002s made it to the Shield decider, where they lost on penalties, everyone involved at Moira FC is excited about what the new season offers.
“The two oldest teams in the club, the 2001s and 2002s, both reached finals last season, the 2004s made a trip to Ayr becoming the first team from Moira FC to play outside of Northern Ireland and the 2005s won the Banbridge Rangers Tournament, so there is a real buzz around as the new season looms,” said Matt Peach from LOGIC Moira, under whose umbrella Moira FC runs.
“We also had a boy from the 2002s selected for the Mid Ulster Youth League select squad which played at the Foyle Cup and that was another real positive for the club.
“Our door is always open for new players to come along and with pre-season training starting this is the perfect time for anyone who is interested to join in and get a taste for what we are about.”
Anyone with a child born between 2001 and 2008 who is interested in joining Moira FC please email email@example.com or call 07517 611413 for details of training times as these vary for each group.
