Lisburn Distillery set to host a family fun day at the club

Lisburn Distillery F.C. and Action Mental Health MensSana are hosting a family fun day and health fair at New Grosvenor Stadium on Saturday August 2 from 1pm - 3pm.

The event, which is organised as part of the Together For You project, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, aims to highlight the link between our physical health and our mental health.

AMH MensSana, one of the Together For You partners, offers training for young people (8-25 years) in schools and youth settings in the Northern, South Eastern and Belfast Trust areas to promote awareness and understanding of mental health issues, in order to challenge stigma and misconceptions.

They provide a number of interactive workshops through which they develop support in the area of mental and emotional wellbeing using a range of activities that are tailored to suit group needs.

On August 2, in conjunction with Lisburn Distillery F.C, AMH MensSana have organised a number of fun activities as part of the family fun day including:

Learning about healthy food options; Free Blood Pressure Checks; Football competitions; Bouncy Castle; Free Sports Massage; Mental health support organisations; The 3 minute workout.

The event is free to attend, and will be fun for all the family. Free parking available.

Defeat in pre-season opener

Lisburn Distillery got their pre season fixtures underway at Abbey Villa on Thursday.

Darren Ross was between the sticks making his debut for the first team side, the highly rated sixteen year old hoping to impress management and fans alike.

Things got off to a terrible start for the Whites as the hosts were ahead inside the first minute as, following a defensive error, the Whites failed to close down an Abbey Villa attacker and his shot made no mistake in curling into the bottom corner leaving the ‘keeper Darren Ross with very little chance.

The visitors did equalise when Jones played in the impressive Niall Derry who coolly slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the Villa net.

A flurry of changes came about at half time. Darren Ross made a superb save to tip a long range effort over his bar but from the resulting corner Abbey Villa took the lead as more confusion seemed to hit the Whites defence allowing an unmarked player to nip in at the back post.
