Aghalee Village FC had no festive fixtures this year and so decided to play a charity match.

It all proved worthwile too as £418 was raised for Epilepsy Action with more donations still to come in.

The match, at Aghalee Playing Fields, was well supported and all involved had an enjoyable day with the highlight being a substitute performance from their joint manager Tucker Donnolly who rolled back the years to score a spectacular goal and then promptly retire to the sideline again.

The event was a great way to end the year for Aghalee Village who retain top position in their division of the Mid Ulster League and also remain top of the league statistics for the entire Mid Ulster League for most wins, most points and most goals scored so far this season.

Two of the main organisers Stevie Bann and Joe McCoy would like to thank all those involved including The Gate Inn, Aghalee, Boyles Bar, Crumlin and the referee Colin Davidson who gave gave his services in aid of the charity.

First Lisburn Blues Supporters Club will be running a bus from their Sackville Street clubrooms tomorrow (Saturday) to Linfield’s home game against Coleraine. Clubrooms open at 12pm, the bus leaves at 2pm and non members are welcome
