As many as 45 Fort Hill pupils from Years 8 and 9 along with four staff headed off to Liverpool for the annual school football trip earlier this month.
Staff and pupils took in the 1-1 draw between Everton and Manchester City in the Premier League, getting to see world class players like Sergio Aguero and David Silva strut their stuff.
The match was highly entertaining with Manchester City squandering numerous first half chances before scoring the opening goal midway through the second half.
This kicked Everton into life who equalised soon after and applied some late pressure to the Man City goal just in front of the Fort Hill pupils who were cheering on vociferously as Everton fans for the day.
The match was a fantastic experience with pupils getting to see world class talent such as Sergio Aguero and David Silva as well as witness first hand the passionate crowds that fill the Goodison Park stands.
The second main event of the trip was a thrilling stadium tour of Old Trafford, home of Manchester United. There, pupils got to: sit in Louis Van Gaal’s spot in the dugout; walk down the players’ tunnel; look around the changing rooms; sit in the heights of the Sir Alex Ferguson stand and visit the packed trophy room.
On return to school, a number of pupils wrote a report on their experiences of the trip.
One Year 9 pupil said “It was a fantastic experience getting to see a Premiersship game live. I couldn’t believe the atmosphere in the ground.”
A Year 8 pupil said “Old Trafford is far bigger than I expected. As a Manchester United fan, it was such a brilliant experience to visit there.”
