Eric puts a dent in Hilden’s push for Senior Three

Eric Mairs dented Hilden’s progress in Private Greens Senior Three with the only win for their local rivals, Malone on Tuesday night and Hilden had to settle for six points.

Mairs recorded two fives and a three to lead 17-3 at the seventh, but Jonathan McMullan replied with five and three to come back to 16-27 at 18 ends.

Malone lifted a three and though Hilden finished with a six they lost by eight shots.

After starting with a three Frazer Thompson led 10-7 at the tenth, but Raymond Gourley came back with a five to lead 14-12 at 15 ends and Hilden won four of the last six ends to record a three shots victory.

A five and a three helped Maurice Kirkwood to a 10-6 lead at the tenth and a three helped Hilden to a 19-6 lead at 13 ends and though David Nelson came back to 11-19 at 16 ends Hilden added two three to win by 17 shots.

Two fours helped Stephen Kirkwood to an 11-5 lead at the ninth and though Terry Monro lifted a three and a four Hilden added a five to lead 18-14 at 16 ends and when they finished with a three the winning margin was five shots.
