The ladies started strongly, working seamlessly together between the forwards and mid-fields.

The speed from debut player Lucy Fitzpatrick caused a bit of trouble for the opposition as she made fantastic passes to Danielle Heasley.

Instonians pushed forward, forcing themselves into the South defence.

South’s defence kept it together with Catherine Growcott protecting her goals, but Instonians drew first blood with a deflected shot that went into the top right hand corner of South’s nets.

During the break, the ladies were determined to level the score, where Alannah Richardson and Charis Seeds worked tirelessly up to Instonians quarters and hit the ball into the circle.

South’s right-back, Wendy Li surprised everyone by picking up the stray ball at the edge of the circle and striking it straight into the right corner of the net.

However, Instonians proved too strong for South, scoring two goals in quick succession. Final score 3-1 to Instonians.

Player of the Match went to Wendy Li for her fantastic debut goal and defence.

Special mention to Catherine Faulker and her father who umpired the match and for Lisburn Racquets Club sponsoring the match.
