Darren and Chriss are crowned doubles champions

THIS years Doubles final would be contested between Darren Morgan and Chriss Ferguson who were up against Jim McGory and Paul Sweeney.

It was a brilliant final this year with young Chriss Ferguson making his final debut and the experienced Darren Morgan aiming to win his fourth doubles title since joining the league over a decade ago.

However it wasn’t going to be a easy match as Paul Sweeney is in superb form at present after winning the charity night and his playing partner, Jim McGory, was also making his debut in this final which set up a very interesting match between the two set of teams.

The match got of to a tentative start with chances for both teams going astray however Darren and Chriss where looking certain to win the first frame with the pink over the pocket for the latter to slot home to take a one frame lead but managed to miss it and let their opponents fight back to force a re-spotted black. It ended up with Paul potting the black to go 1-0 up, giving them the early advantage.

Darren and Chriss managed to forget about the first frame and started to play some great snooker which put there opponents under pressure and some excellent safety play from young Chriss levelled the match a 1-1.

Darren had a very good 49 break in the third frame with no response which put himself and Chriss 2-1 up and only one frame away from victory.

Paul and Jim battled away in the forth frame to try and force a decider but Darren and Chriss proved too strong for their opponents on this occasion and wrapped up the match with a 3-1 win over Jim and Paul and become doubles champions 2013.

The League would like to congratulate Darren and Chriss on winning the doubles and thank Coach Snooker Club and Colin Carlise for the use of their facilities for the final
