'Cup is our best chance of silverware' says Wright

LISBURN Distillery manager Tommy Wright has said tomorrow's (Saturday) Co-operative Insurance Cup third round tie is a "massive" game for his club, as it represents the Whites' best chance of winning any silverware this season.

The Whites' face a trip to Drumahoe to take on Championship side Institute, having already dispatched Armagh City with a thumping 9-0 rout in the second round last month.

Wright recognises the importance of the Cup for his side, saying should they win tomorrow, they will be just two games from the final.

Wright said: "Realistically, this is our best opportunity to get any silverware. Historically, it is Linfield and Glentoran who win the league. We have got to make sure we have got everything right going up to Institute and that we give the same type of performance as we gave against Dungannon."

He added: "A win on Saturday and you are two games from a Cup final. It's a massive game for us."

Wright's men returned to winning ways with a 4-1 win against Dungannon last weekend, in what he described as an "excellent performance" and he will hope his side can replicate that tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Linfield will travel to Newry City for their third round tie, having beaten Newry 4-0 at Windsor Park last Friday night in a Premier league encounter.

High-flying Linfield returned to the top of the Carling Premiership with the win last Friday, following it up with an 8-1 win at home over Crusaders on Monday.

The Blues are in confident form and Newry will have a tough job to contain David Jeffrey's men tomorrow.
