U15’s suffer league defeat

At Under 15 level in the league Derriaghy came out on the wrong side of a low scoring match against Ballymena. Both innings mirrored each other.

There were two double figure scores, one excellent bowling performance and a catastrophic collapse in each innings. In the end Ballymena won by 6 runs.

Ballymena batted first and struggled to a score of 71 with the only significant scores coming from J McLean (22) and J Glass (10) with Patrick Anderson having the remarkable figures of 4 for 4 in his spell. Derriaghy in reply got off to a solid start, reaching 56-1 thanks to B Craig (25) and J Cardosi (16) but then two run outs and some fine stumpings from the Ballymena keeper triggered a major collapse and the innings closed on 65. For Ballymena C Purse outpointed P Anderson with the still more remarkable figures of 5 for 8 including a hat trick.

The Under 15s were due to play Ards on Wednesday (4th) in the Graham Cup with the winners facing Carrick in the next round two days later.
