Derriaghy Under 13s defeated Ards by 9 wickets in an away league fixture played on Friday night. Ards elected to bat first and got off to a reasonable start. Gradually the Derriaghy attack began to tighten the grip and backed up by some excellent fielding runs became hard to come by. Skipper Jonny Lynch made positive bowling changes and he himself set a good standard in the field which was replicated by all those around him. Jonny took 2 wickets and held 3 catches, Joel Dundas had 2 direct hit run outs and keeper Robbie Jamieson had a good night behind the stumps topped off by an excellent stumping. There was good work on a difficult outfield by all. Michael Wilson gave an excellent display of spin bowling and was rewarded with fine figures of 2 for 8. Rory Brown with 1 for 5 from 4 overs proved a real handful and others to impress were Jamie White and Zach Benson. Ards managed 70 for 8 in the 20 overs.

Derriaghy opening pair of skipper Lynch and keeper Jamieson put on a solid opening stand of 26 before Robbie departed. Reece Malone joined his skipper and some good stroke-play combined with quick running between the wickets saw the team home without any further mishap and with 8 overs in hand. Coaching team of Scott Hughes and Stuart McAllister praised the team and were especially pleased with the disciplined performance after ironing out some issues in nets during the week. The Under 11s managed to scrape a 3 wicket win over Laurelvale.
