Derriaghy CC hoping to continue pre-season form

DERRIAGHY Cricket Club begin their new season this Saturday with a home fixture against Cliftonville.

Skipper Matthew Jennings will be hoping that his team continue the good form they have shown in their pre season friendlies when they defeated Ardmore, Carrick and Saintfield.

Craig Lewis in particular has been in superb scoring form hitting 101 against Saintfield on Sunday in a T20 game and also recording 50s in his other 2 innings to date.

Jennings was very impressed by his side’s performance at Premier league side Carrick on Saturday when they hit 224 for 6 with new signing Charl Daubney recording 70 and Andrew Kenny also among the runs. A fine bowling and fielding display saw them run out winners by 25 runs.

Last season when Cliftonville visited Queensway over 600 runs were scored on a beautiful warm day with the home side 14 runs to strong for their visitors.

Derriaghy will hope to have new overseas player Pushy on show for his home debut and along with Daubney, Lewis, Hegarty, Kenny and Crookshanks this will be one of the strongest top order batting line outs in the league. The game on Saturday has a 1pm start.
