Coach A extend unbeaten run with whitewash win

There was yet another 4-0 win for Coach A and they never even managed to lose a frame in the process away from home against the Legion Hotshots. The question on many peoples minds that needs answering is that is it simply too easy for Jim McGory’s Coach A team? Have they even moved out of second gear yet? Do they even need to?

Never the less they moved further ahead in the league with a 4-0 win over the Legion Hotshots and increased their lead to 3 points with only seven games left to play. Legion never managed to win a single frame and it started with Michael Ferguson who lost out to Jason Crozier and was followed up by Colin Watson who couldn’t get past the excellent Paul Sweeney. Cathy Pegg and Callum Pegg lost their matches against Declan Duff and Stephen Magennis respectively to wrap up a disappointing night for the Hotshots.

In a more closely contested match, it was the Coach Highwaymen who would face title challengers The Legends and the match ended up in a stalemate between the two sides as they shared the points 2-2. G Boomer was up first for the home side and he was defeated 2-0 by the excellent Paul Lenfesty who had a nice 63 break in the first frame only to miss the green for his chance to take the high break prize. Davy Tate then made it 1-1 with an excellent 2-0 win over Jonny Payne to level up the match. Clive Mitchel then put the defending champions 2-1 up as he defeated David Payne 2-0 and put the Legends title challenge under serious threat. However, Colin Patterson lost out to Mark MaGee of the Legends in a close encounter as he rescued a draw for his team and keep the title dream alive and end the match at 2-2.

Another extremely closely contested match was between the Coach Knights and the Glenside and it also ended up as a draw with both side sharing 2 points each. Captain of the Knights John McCrea was convincingly beat 2-0 by captain of the Glenside Colin Carlisle. Damien McCambridge levelled up the match with a narrow win over Jason Loyal with the game finishing 2-1 to the Knights player. Tommy Taylor couldn’t get past the inform player of the Glenside man Wayne Martin as he won his game 2-0 which put the Glenside ahead going into the last game. The last game would be between Davy Hall and Ernie Cullen and it was the Knights player who did all the potting in this match as he beat Ernie 2-0 and rescue a draw for his team.

Next up we have the coach Grinders against the Coach Outlaws and it was a great display from the away side as they beat the Grinders 3-1 and are having a very good season this year. Franky Soye had a close game with Adam Spence but just lost out to the Outlaw losing the game 2-1. The man with the Golden pipe was the only winner for the Grinders this week as Brian Murray beat Chriss Ferguson 2-1 in a close match and level up the match at 1-1. Jerome Lenfesty was beaten 2-0 by the in form Kyle Lavery as the Outlaws moved into a 2-1 lead. Gerry McKeown rounded off a gloomy night for the Grinders as he was beat 2-0 by Ricky Ferguson and sent the Outlaws to a very good 3-1 win over the Grinders.

Last up this week we have the Coach Terminaters who would entertain Lisburn side Colours Ballymacash B and it was the home side who took the win as they cruised to a 3-1 win. Uncle John produced a fine display on his way to a 2-0 win over Ryan McComb to put the Terminaters 1-0 up. Gary Townsley is reaping the benefits of his new cue as he is on a winning run at present and continued his good form in to this match as he beat Mick Straw 2-0 to double the Terminaters Lead. Darren Morgan then made it 3-0 with a narrow win over Ryan McCauchran 2-1. William Townsley was last up for the Terminaters but couldn’t manage to get the white wash as he was defeated 2-1 by the experienced Tommy McCaughran and the match finished at 3-1.
