Celtic Cup is coming to Lisnagarvey

THE senior men’s and women’s Celtic Cup will be hosted by Lisnagarvey Hockey Club this summer.

Irish hockey most recently worked with Lisnagarvey at the 2010/2011 Electric Ireland and Men’s IHL Finals and are delighted to be able to bring this tournament to Ulster and Lisnagarvey.

Commenting on the upcoming event Director of High Performance, Dave Passmore said: “Irish Hockey are delighted to be hosting this event in Ulster and at such fantastic club facilities. With the possibility of Irish teams having qualified for London this will be a really prestigious event with high profile. We know the Irish teams and visiting nations alike will get a warm welcome and great support.” The event which takes place from Friday, June 29 to Sunday, July 1 will see Ireland, Wales and Scotland compete with the fourth country to be confirmed due to France’s withdrawal from the Celtic Cup at all age groups.

Lisnagarvey Club Chairman, Paul Bonar commented: “We believe we provide a superb venue with proven hosting of major events for the IHA and this has been recognised in their willingness to host the Celtic Cup at Lisnagarvey.

“We are very proud of our facilities at Comber Road coupled with having tremendous support from within the members of the club for events such as this, to ensure that everything runs smoothly.”
