Call him Captain Colin

Colin Riddel has been elected as Captain of Dunmurry Golf Club for 2016.

He has already hosted his first function of the year at the Members’ Annual Dinner in Dunmurry Golf Club on Saturday 23th January.

The Vice Captain for the year will be Trevor Lamont, who steps down as Hon. Treasurer with Alec Johnston taking over that role.

Meanwhile, Tom Millar was elected as President for the next two years, while Andy Sproule was once again elected Hon. Secretary. Noel Magill was re-elected back on to council and Paul Coome joins him with both being elected for three year terms.

Captain Colin has been a member of Dunmurry Golf Club for almost 18 years, has been on council for the last five years and has been membership convenor for the last three.

He was originally born in Coleraine but was brought up in Stranmillis and now lives in the Fourwinds area of Belfast. He has been married to Joan for nearly 35 years and they have two children, Matthew (22) and Sophie (18), who are both at University.

Colin is semi-retired, having worked at Allianz Insurance Company for 35 years and now works part-time for a local Insurance broker - Towergate Dawson Whyte.

He enjoys all sport including football, rugby and cricket and for 25 years was a member of and played for Annadale Hockey Club.

Colin is looking forward to the golfing season when he hopes the teams will keep him busy in the GUI competitions throughout the summer.
