Brian edges out Stephen in tense finish to Winter League Week Six

Week Six of Rockmount’s Andrew Annett Winter League competition was played in good conditions.

Brian Rea (09) and Stephen Walker (09) both scored 29 points with Brian taking first place on count back. Six players then scored 28 points and all were placed on countback. Peter Coffey (03) was third, Paul Clydesdale (13) was fourth and fifth place went to Stephen Clarke (11).

Ryan Wilson (01) had the best gross on the day a two under par score of 46. Ryan’s score card included birdies at six, 11 and 12 with the only blemish on his card a bogey at the seventh hole. All will receive Paul Banford & Sons Butchers, Turkey Vouchers.

The four groups are starting to take shape, with the top two teams qualifying for the matchplay rounds in March next year.

Currently Group A is led by “There’s The Sleet I’m Away In” with 165 points and “The Rat Trap” are second with 164 points. Group B is led by “Paddy one Putt” with 165 points and “Mr Ivan’s Boys” second with 164 points.

Group C is led by “Talk a Good Game” with 164 points and “The Quickslips” are second with 158 points. The final group, Group D are led by “FAB” with 167 points and “The Drawshank Redemption” are just a point behind in second with 166 points.

In the singles competitions the low section (0-11) is led by David Harrison with 58 points closely followed by Ryan Wilson with 57 points. The middle section (12-17) is led by Russell Jameison with 60 points with Clarke Crawford second on 59 points. The high section (18-28) is jointly led by Ian Harvey and Colin Davis on 59 points.
