A total of 35 boxers weighed in for the championship, with the quarter finals being held on Tuesday January 19.

The boxing continued with the semi finals on Wednesday January 20 in the Dockworkers Club and concluded on Friday January 22 with the finals.

Mosa reached the final and faced a formidable opponent, in Colm Sharkey, who stood head and shoulders above him in the Light Welter Weight Division (64kg).

As the first round started Mosa’s opponent started the better, using his superior height and reach difference to good effect as he kept Mosa away with his jab and landing some good shots.

As the round went on Mosa started to work out his opponent and started to get some nice body shots in.

As the round was coming to an end Mosa unleashed a ferocious volley of punches ending with a cracking right hand to the head, which resulted in the referee, Ian McShane, stepping in to give a standing count.

Just then the bell went for the end of the round.

As the second round started Mosa was quickly into his rhythm with a series of punches to the head and body as his opponent struggled to contain him.

Once again the ref had to step in to issue another standing count as the bell went saving him once again.

In the last round again Mosa started quickly pushing his man back with every punch and busting his nose with a lovely right hook.

Mosa was in total control as he picked his opponent off at will, resulting in the ref stepping in to stop the fight and Mosa becoming the Ulster Intermediate Champ 2016 at 64kg.

“It was a fantastic performance by Mosa,” said Head Coach Martin Laverty.

In the end Mosa won easy, overcoming a bigger more experienced opponent.

Lisburn Boxing Club would like to congratulate Mosa as winning The Ulsters’ makes it a double as he won The Co Antrim’s also this season.
