Blue Bloods: A Garvey Memoir

A new book on sport in Lisburn and one man’s memoir of almost 50 years association with Lisnagarvey Hockey Club is to be published next week.

Bill Lowry, former teacher at Wallace High School, Lisburn Technical College, and latterly the Principal of the Armagh College of Further Education has written down his memories of the period 1947 to 1994, when he played and administered for most of that time. The book is titled ‘Blue Bloods: A Garvey Memoir’.

Readers should relate to those memories of their various clubs and sports, the players and personalities involved,

Second and third generations can read of the part played by their parents and grandparents.

Lisnagarvey Hockey Club will host a book launch on November 30 at 1pm in their Comber Road, Hillsborough clubhouse. The author will be present for signings. Everyone is welcome.

It coincides with the M1s home tie in the Irish Senior Cup against UCD.
