Youth facility approval welcomed

LISBURN Councillors welcomed planning approval for the development of youth facilities in Poleglass at the recent Planning Committee meeting.

Approval for the application, by Youth Initiatives Cloona House, which received no objections, was granted for the demolition of the existing premises at 31 Colin Road, Poleglass, the removal of a temporary building and construction of a new two storey community youth facility and offices, siteworks and parking.

Councillor Arder Carson said: “I welcome the approval for this, this is going to benefit young people, particularly in the Poleglass area.”

Lisburn Mayor, Councillor Brian Heading added: “I am pleased that Youth Initiative’s application to build a new community youth centre in Poleglass has been given the green light. This cross-community facility will be great for young people in our area and will offer services and a safe place for our youth to spend leisure time and build relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds.”
