Your chance to Dine and Dance for charity

LISBURN couple Andrew and Claire Holden are hosting a glittering Dine and Dance evening in The Tannery Restaurant, Moira, on Friday May 18 to raise money for the Ulster Cancer Foundation.

Guests can enjoy a champagne reception starting at 7.30pm, followed by a delicious four course meal. The Dine and Dance fundraising event will also include a grand raffle and music from Guest DJ.

Tickets are £30 per person and all the money raised will go towards the John Connery Maracycle Team. The team is made up of 15 local cyclists who are hoping to complete the challenge of cycling 220 miles from Belfast to Dublin and back to Belfast again this June and raise £10,000 for the Ulster Cancer Foundation in memory of the late John Connery.

A successful local artist, John sadly lost his fight with bowel cancer last July. He wrote about his personal cancer journey during 2011 in a weekly column for the News Letter newspaper.

Andrew, Pastry Chef at The Plough in Hillsborough, said: “After my uncle John passed away, I decided to take on the challenge of the Maracycle in his memory and raise £10,000 for the Ulster Cancer Foundation.

“Along with my cousin Michael and brother Ashley, we managed to recruit other family members and friends to join us in this cycling challenge.

“There are currently 15 guys signed up to do this and we are all committed to raise as much money in John’s memory as we can. We are all busy now with our various fundraising efforts as well as training for the maracycle in June.”

All the money raised will go towards the fundraising target of £10,000 that the John Connery Maracycle Team have set themselves. All funds raised for UCF are spent locally to help support people with cancer in Northern Ireland.”
