Warningafter chemist robbery

MEMBERS of the public are being advised to be vigilant with police concerned some stolen prescription medication may have been dumped by robbers.

They fear that if put into the wrong hands they could be potentially dangerous and are asking people on the Knockmore Road, Derriaghy Road, Stewartstown Road and Glasvey Drive areas are asked to keep an eye out for any discarded medication boxes that do not have prescription labels on them.

It comes after three men were arrested by detectives following an armed robbery at a pharmacy in Lisburn.

At around 8.20pm last Thursday two masked men, one of whom was armed with a gun, entered the Knockmore Road premises. One of the men, threatened a male employee demanding medications before striking the 27-year-old twice around the head and face and forcing him to open the drugs store.The robbers made off with a quantity of prescription medication in a black Vauxhall Vectra driven by a third man.

The Vectra was spotted by police a short time later on Prince William Road. Suitably trained officers then pursued the vehicle into the Twinbrook area where it was brought to a halt at Glasvey Drive.

The arrested men, aged 41, 45 and 46, were detained on suspicion of armed robbery.

Officers have also seized the vehicle involved and believe it matches the description of a car stolen in the Jerusalem Street area of South Belfast on October 22.
