Lisburn homes evacuated during gas leak

RESIDENTS of 30 houses at Longstone Street had to be evacuated when a gas leak was detected yesterday (Tuesday).

The evacuees were moved to Lagan Valley Leisureplex.

The source of the leak was investigated and�a 75 metre cordon was set up.

Gas engineers attended and repaired a medium pressure leak. Fire crews remained at the scene, monitoring gas danger levels�for over 11 hours to ensure a safe outcome.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area. Other people living in the area were told to close windows and doors.
