Essential work at train station

Translink, alongside contractor F.P McCann Ltd, will shortly be carrying out essential enhancement and maintenance work at Dunmurry Train Station.

This work is essential in order to improve accessibility to the station for the benefit of passengers, including improvements to a retaining wall and installation of new handrails, the undertaking of necessary public realm replacements and the removal of intrusive vegetation in proximity to the station.

This essential work will take place over a number of weeks from early January 2021 and is expected to last until early March. Access to the Portadown-bound platform will be maintained at all times.

Access to the Belfast-bound platform will be retained via The Green during the works period.

Translink has given reassurances that there here will be no disruption to train services.

However, a temporary lane closure will be necessary on Upper Dunmurry Lane to facilitate the work at different stages and a traffic management system will be in place as required.

Night works will not generally be necessary during this project, except to facilitate the essential removal of intrusive vegetation and excess ballast.

This work is programmed to take place during the nights of Saturday January 9 and Sunday January 10.

Translink have said that every effort will be made to keep any noise and disruption to a minimum at all times.

Work will also be carried out according to the relevant social distancing guidance to ensure the protection of staff and the community.

Translink added that it is grateful for the support and patience of the local community as it progresses this essential work to enhance the railway.
