Three cows loose on the M1 near Lisburn caused major rush hour traffic chaos this morning (Thursday).
The cows were spotted along the motorway around 7am heading towards Belfast from Ballyskeagh.
Motorists were warned to avoid the area near the Applegreen Service Station.
Some of the farm animals were spotted in the fast lane on the motorway and commuters were advised to come off the M1 at the Moira junction to avoid the delays.
The animals were later moved off the motorway.
Police have asked the owner of the cows to contact them.
