McDonald’s Sprucefield has been named National Winner in the Quick Service Restaurants Category for Northern Ireland and given ‘gold status’ for its customer bathrooms after independent inspectors gave the restaurant the thumbs up.
Franchisee John McCollum and his crew were awarded the title of overall winners in the Quick Service Restaurant category for the restaurant’s toilet facilities, which were judged on a wide range of criteria, including signage, décor, fixtures and fittings, as well as overall standards of cleanliness and management.
The independent awards have been identifying the best toilets in Britain since 1987, making it a standard setter for all those who provide ‘away from home’ facilities for staff and customers.
Mr McCollum said: “McDonald’s is a modern and progressive company and we pride ourselves on providing our customers with a quality meal and excellent service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We want every aspect of a visit to our restaurants to be of the highest possible standard. We are delighted to have received this award and believe that clean toilet facilities are essential, something that our customers look for at every visit.”
Loo of the Year contenders, with the owner’s or manager’s permission, can be nominated by anyone. Following nomination, the entries are critiqued by an independent inspector.
