Time to say ‘Thank You’ to volunteers

Youthnet is celebrating Volunteers’ Week by encouraging young people to say a big “Thank You” to the volunteers who give so much time and energy to their local youth clubs or groups.

Celebration events are taking place all across NI this week. On Wednesday night in Lambeg, the young people from The Lambeg Project said a big “Thank You” to their volunteers and presented them with certificates to celebrate their efforts. The event took place at the Base Drop In Centre, Harmony Hill Church, Lambeg.

Volunteers’ Week runs from June 1–7 and this year they celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Volunteers’ Week. The theme is ‘Time to say thank you.’ Volunteers’ Week gives them the opportunity to shine the spotlight on volunteers and give them the recognition and thanks they deserve.

Mary Field, Head of Advocacy at Youthnet said: “We are encouraged by the enthusiasm that young people are showing in saying “Thank You” to their volunteers. It demonstrates the positive impact volunteers are making on young people’s lives and also the willingness of young people to value and recognise their efforts.”
