The once lovely Dunmurry now left soulless

I read with interest about the recently planted bushes being pinched at Yew Tree Walk, Dunmurry.

After many years away, I also observed that the beautiful Weeping Willow tree (which had stood for years at the equally beautiful house which was demolished years ago) had recently been chopped down to make way for social housing, adjacent to the RFD factory in Dunmurry.

In fact all the beautiful old houses and cottages in Seymour Hill and Dunmurry have been demolished.

The seven white labourer cottages on Ballybog Road along with apple trees, hedges and old pumps are all gone.

Old cottages were also reduced to rubble and made way for soulless social housing and the now pending Willow Park.

If builders, developers and architects incorporated these cute and beautiful character buildings, trees, hedges and streams into their new builds, maybe everyone would live happier lives and be more proud of their areas, whilst embracing nature and beauty.

It’s a bit like knocking down old churches and replacing them with modern builds.

Now I have no real reason for a return visit. Soulless.
