Tangent Club celebrates 25th Anniversary

MEMBERS of Lagan Valley Tangent Club held a very special dinner in Lisburn Golf Club recently as they celebrated their 25th Anniversary and held their AGM.

The Club was formed in 1987 from members of the Lagan Valley Ladies Circle.

Members of the Circle could only stay until they were 45, so the ladies formed the Tangent Club in order to continue meeting.

Pat Arneill, who is the current Chairman, said some members of the club have been together for 38 years, between the Circle and Tangent Club, and have formed bonds as close as family.

Pat said: “We have all grown together and now we are all grannies, except one and her son’s wife is expecting in August.

“The Lagan Valley Tangent Club is a very close, family oriented organisation.”

The members of the club are all wives of former members of the Round Table and they meet on the third Wednesday of every month.

Whilst the height of their fundraising is behind them from their Circle days, the ladies hold a dinner amongst themselves once a year for charity.

During their AGM, which was held in Lisburn Golf Club on May 9, they also held a celebratory dinner to mark their 25 years, which was attended by founder Chairman Lynn McCance.

2012 has been a special year for the ladies as they also held the Irish Regional Luncheon in Balmoral Golf Club in March, which was attended by members from across England, Scotland and the north of Ireland, whilst the National President was also a guest at the event.
