Take a musical walk around Lisburn with John and the Harmony Hills

A NEW album of children’s songs written and produced by well known Lisburn musician John D’Arcy has been released.

The CD, which features the choir of Harmony Hill Primary School, was launched at a very special concert at the school last week.

John wrote the songs especially for young children, so they are all about things and places they know.

The project was supported by the Lisburn Arts Advisory Committee and Lisburn City Council and many of the songs feature Lisburn landmarks and local history.

The album is a bit like a children’s ‘concept album’, but instead of telling one particular story – the songs take you through a child’s typical day.

There’s a walk around Lisburn, in the title track, which highlights all the places John likes go to in Lisburn and then of course there’s his favourite place, ‘Music Matters’ - the music shop!

But John has also taken topics such as the Linen industry and made them interesting and relevant for younger children, as well as giving the kids lots of fun songs to sing – some of which are just a really good laugh – such as ‘Superfoods’, ‘Juicy Juice’ and ‘The 50p shake!’ The fun of singing the songs is obvious from listening to the CD – you can clearly hear the children from Harmony Hill Primary School laughing and singing their hearts out – sounds like a good time was had by all.

The new album ‘A Walk around Lisburn’ is available for download from walkaroundlisburn.com and is also available from Music Matters in Lisburn.
