Support for pedestrian measures

There has been an

overwhelming response to a survey of community views on provision of a pedestrian crossing near the shops at Lambeg .

That’s according to DUP Councillor Scott Carson, who surveyed more than 600 properties on the Moss Road to quiz residents and shoppers about whether they backed pedestrian measures and if they believed speed remained an issue.

“I have been contacted by residents from the Moss Road area who believe a problem exists outside the shops at the junction of Woodland Park,” he said.

“On occasions I have observed older people and more frail individuals struggling across the busy road to access the Pharmacy or Post Office. It was for this reason that I made a commitment to seek the opinion of residents and to make representations to Roads Service if I received support from residents.

“At present the response has been overwhelmingly in favour of pedestrian measures and the number of people who have expressed their views is also pleasing.

“Today (Friday) a deadline has been set for any remaining completed questionnaires with a view to holding a meeting with Roads Service shortly after to raise the concerns that have been highlighted.”
